※Before the upstream mountains of the Watarase River dried up, causing frequent floods and contaminating the area with mining toxins, the downstream village of Tanimura was a prosperous community that skillfully utilised the floods.
※渡瀬川の上流の山枯れにより大洪水が頻発し鉱毒に汚染されるまでは、下流の谷中村は洪水をも上手に活用しながら暮らす豊かな村だった。
