HAPPY BIRTHDAY, YAYOI KUSAMA ! Print Selection
In this online presentation, we celebrate the birthday month of Yayoi Kusama with a focus on her early print works.
When Kusama first introduced prints in 1979, she developed vibrant compositions filled with decorative motifs in striking colors—an approach that stood in clear contrast to the themes of death and psychological struggle she had explored after returning from the United States.
The carefully selected works from the 1980s and 1990s presented here feature familiar figurative images—such as pumpkins, hats, watermelons, flowers, and butterflies—brought vividly to life through her signature nets and polka dots. Kusama’s fundamental concepts of repetition and proliferation strongly resonate with the inherently reproducible nature of printmaking, offering an important perspective for understanding her practice. All works are presented in excellent condition.
On this celebratory occasion, we warmly invite you to experience the joy and energy that radiate from Kusama’s prints. -
