Overview
Pet Shop Guys: Lost in Tokyo, ChillChill, PAPAPEPIA, ¥ouada

Ota Fine Arts Tokyo is pleased to present a group exhibition, Pet Shop Guys: Lost in Tokyo, curated by Martin Goya Business (MGB). MGB is an artist collective founded by video artist Cheng Ran in Hangzhou, China, in 2017. They have collaborated with a wide range of artists from play writers to tattoo artists, and presented unprecedented art expressions on different occasions. This exhibition features 3 artists from MGB: ChillChill (b.1990), PAPAPEPIA (b.1987) and ¥ouada (b.1987). They belong to the generation called Bā Líng Hòu (post-80s), and Jiǔ Líng Hòu (post-90s) in China, who grew up experiencing technology-led rapid development of society and the two-edged inflow of capitalism and foreign culture. Their art practice presents a new way to look at contemporary Chinese art. Also, they function as a platform to support young artists, contributing to a new artist-led ecosystem in Chinese society. Come and enjoy a new form of expression from the city of Hangzhou!
