"A Chat in the Universe" is a piece from Yayoi Kusama’s monumental series, "My Eternal Soul," which she began in 2009. The vivid contrast between the intense pink and red that fills the canvas delivers a powerful visual impact. The four edges of the canvas are framed in black with a "fringe-like" motif—a recurring element since her early career—within which floating red dots are scattered with an organic sense of movement.

Within some of these dots, simple line drawings reminiscent of the "profiles" Kusama has drawn for years lie hidden. Here, abstraction and figuration, self-image and cosmic expansion, coexist in a resonant harmony. While her iconic polka dots represent the dissolution of the individual boundary and a sense of oneness with the world (Self-Obliteration), in this work, they pulse like living organisms scattered across the cosmos.

Cells of life, wordless chats, and fragments of inner imagery—these elements are arranged as if weightless, making the piece a direct extension of Kusama’s spiritual world, a hallmark of the "My Eternal Soul" series. Through its vivid colors and rhythmic repetition, the work invites the viewer into a quiet, cosmic dialogue.
