I was invited to hold a solo exhibition at the home of a friend who runs an art space in London. During my visit, I was struck by the intimacy of her space, which carried a warmth and wisdom reflective of her age and character, much like my own mother. I felt inspired to introduce an element of strangeness to it, which became the foundation for the creation of ‘NOBODY’. The work examines how the gradual appearance of animals within the rhythm of daily life can obscure the distinction between presence and absence, embodying the essence of ‘NOBODY’. In everyday scenes, the invisible becomes visible, while the visible fades away, blurring boundaries through the shifting, hazy shadows of camels. This interplay invites profound questions: Can we see it, or not? Has reality begun to slip away?
